WATCH: The 2018 Space Coast Daily Breakfast of Champions. Space Coast Daily, The Buchanan Company and Brevard Public Schools are hosting the Brevard County Breakfast of Champions at the Cocoa Beach Country Club to honor the best in Brevard High School youth and prep athletics.

Space Coast Daily, The Buchanan Company and Brevard Public Schools will once again host the Brevard County Breakfast of Champions to honor the best in Brevard High School youth and prep athletics.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Space Coast Daily, The Buchanan Company and Brevard Public Schools will once again host the Brevard County Breakfast of Champions to honor the best in Brevard High School youth and prep athletics.

The event will be held Friday, May 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Cocoa Beach Country Club to kick off morning and evening events honoring the area’s outstanding athletes, coaches, administrators and sports celebrities.

The Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner will be held on the evening of May 11, with a meet and greet at 6 p.m. and dinner and program at 7 p.m.

The festivities include the meet and greet with the area’s sports royalty, dinner and the induction proceeding which includes compelling video tributes of each of the inductees.

During the Breakfast of Champions, 36 awards will be presented to the best of the best student-athletes.

Businesses and individuals looking to support these outstanding youth and prep athletes can sponsor an award for $500 and includes recognition during the awards event and in the program.

As a sponsor, an invitation will be extended to you and up to four guests to join the festivities for the breakfast.

You’ll be seated with the recipient of your award and their family, which is a great chance to meet these talented athletes and get to know them on a personal level.

Both the Breakfast of Champions and the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame events will be streamed live on Space Coast Daily TV.

Anna Bolger:  Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School – All-Around Athlete

Anna Bolger is a senior at Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School. She is the first Breakfast of Champions Girls All-Around Athlete.  Anna was a 1st team selection on the Friday Night Locker Room/Space Coast Daily All-Star Basketball Team.

She was the #1 player on the tennis team; and also excelled in volleyball.  Anna is a 3-year, multiple letter winner for the Minutemen. This season on the basketball court Anna was the team captain. She averaged 17 points per game; 17 rebounds per game; and 6 steals per game.  

Anna was selected to the Clash on the Coast All-Tournament Team; the All-Cape Coast Conference Team was the Friday Night Locker Room Player of the Game twice; and was selected team MVP. Anna plans on attending college this fall and majoring in Chemistry.

Jashaun Corbin: Rockledge High School – All-Around Athlete

Jashaun Corbin is a senior at Rockledge High School.  He has been selected as the 1st ever Boys All-Around Athlete at the Breakfast of Champions.  Jashaun excelled at football; basketball; and track and field for the Raiders.   As a senior, Jashaun finished the 2017 football season with 2,051 All-Purpose Yards and scored 22 touchdowns.

He was the Raiders MVP; All-Cape Coast Conference selection; 1st Team All-State; and 1st Team Friday Night Locker Room/Space Coast Daily Athlete of the Year. Jashaun is a four-star all-purpose running back rated #8 in the nation according to the “247 Sports Composite Rankings.”  

Not only did Jashaun excel at football, but he was a leader on the basketball team; averaging 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. Jashaun is also a part of the Rockledge 4×100 relay team that broke the school record and placed 4th in the State.

Jashaun will be Attending Texas A&M University on an Athletic Scholarship.

Mason Denaburg: Merritt Island High School – Baseball

Mason Denaburg is a senior at Merritt Island High School.  His current statistics have him with a .438 batting average while hitting five home runs and 18 runs batted in.  As a pitcher for the Mustangs, Mason has 47 strikeouts in 21 innings.

Mason’s career batting average for Merritt Island is .38.  He has 13 home runs and 78 runs batted in. Mason also has 104 strikeouts in 67 innings for the Mustangs.

Mason has received many accolades at the high school level over the years, including 2017 Merritt Island Offensive MVP; 2018 Senior Team Captain; and three-time All-Cape Coast Conference.

His Travel Ball honors have been just as impressive as his high school accolades.  Among them are; 2017 18-U Team USA Gold Medalist; 2017 Under Armor All American and played at Wrigley Field in Chicago; 2017 Perfect Game 2-Way Player of the Year; 2017 Perfect Game All American participant at PetCo Park in San Diego.

Mason has been awarded a baseball scholarship to the University of Florida.

Nydia “Dee” Lampkin: Heritage High School – Girls Basketball

Nydia “Dee” Lampkin is a senior at Heritage High School.  During her senior year, Dee averaged over 16 points; 10 rebounds; 2.3 blocks and 2.3 steals per game.  Her career stats left her as the all-time leader in points scored with 1, 221; rebounds with 849, and blocks with an astounding 378.  

She also recorded 193 steals and 114 assists for the Panthers during her four years. Dee is the first Division 1 female athlete in the history of Heritage High School, having signed with the University of Oklahoma on a basketball scholarship.

Elijah Weaver: Rockledge High School – Boys Basketball

Elijah Weaver is a senior at Rockledge High School.  He finished the season averaging 23 points; 8 rebounds; 9 assists; and 4 steals per game. ESPN ranks Elijah as the 10th best point guard in the nation and #42 in the Top 100 of all players.

Elijah was named Cape Coast Conference Player of the Year; Friday Night Locker Room/Space Coast Daily Player of the Year; and Class 6A State of Florida Player of the Year.  He was recently invited to play in the Allen Iverson All Star Game. Tournament officials were quoted as saying that Weaver’s “court presence and IQ are one of the best I’ve seen in a long time.”

Elijah has signed to play basketball next year at the University of Southern California.

Theo Cox: Edgewood Jr/Sr High School – Boys Bowling

Theo Cox is a junior at Edgewood Jr/Sr High School.  He had an average of 213 pins this past year in high school; and a 217 average in his last youth league.

In 2015, Theo was the Individual District runner-up.  He was also a part of the 2015 Team District Championship. In 2017, Theo was the individual District Champion.

While participating in the Pepsi Florida Bowling Tournament, Theo has finished in the top six, three times. In 2017, he was the Florida State Runner-up.

Theo is undecided as to which college he will attend. However, he plans to study engineering at the next level.

Veronica Petrinec: Titusville High School – Girls Bowling

Veronica Petrinec is a senior at Titusville High School.  She had a remarkable four-year bowling career for the Terriers.  Starting as a freshman she made the All-Conference Team, placed 9th individually at the State Meet; and was part of the Terriers 1st Place State Champion Team.

As a sophomore and junior, she continued to excel.  Veronica was once again, part of the Terriers team that finished in the Top 4 at the State Meet.

Veronica’s senior year was just about as good as it can get. She was the MVP and had the highest average for the Terriers.  She finished 2nd in the Cape Coast Conference; 2nd in the District; and 2nd in the State Meet.

Veronica has signed a bowling scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.

Troy Smith:  Rockledge High School – Cross Country

Troy Smith is a junior at Rockledge High School.  Troy was All-Conference in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and was also selected All-State in 2016 and 2017.  He was the Raiders Cross Country MVP each of the last three years.

2017 was a banner year for Troy, having run a season-best 15:44 5K time, which was also a school record.  He also finished as Cape Coast Conference champion, District champion, Region 4 champion, and finished 5th in the State Meet.

Troy also participated in Track & Field for the Raiders and was strong enough to advance to the State games in Jacksonville.

Natalie Bress: Melbourne High School – Girls Cross Country

Natalie Bress is a senior at Melbourne High School. Natalie has had an outstanding career at Mel-Hi. In 2016 and 2017, she was the Cross-Country District Champion. Natalie also was a 2016 Track District and Regional Champion; and 2017 Track District Champion.

Natalie’s top times were 19:00 in the cross country; 5:12 in the 1600; and 11:08 in the 3200. Natalie has been named Florida Today Athlete of the Week; TOP Soccer Buddy of the Year; is a certified Special Olympics coach, and was named to the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region 3 Team.

Natalie will be attending North Carolina State University and will study Biomedical Engineering.  She is a Class of 2022 NC State Park Scholar.

Sarah Rousseau: Viera High School – Diving

Sarah Rousseau is a senior at Viera High School.  She has had an amazing career diving for the Hawks.  She is a three-time Class 3A State Diving Champion. Sarah also is a four-time Cape Coast Conference, District and Region Diving Champion.  

Sarah has been recognized as a USA Diving All-American for the last two years. She carries 3.9 GPA She will be attending the University of Missouri and will be diving for the Tigers. Sarah is unable to be with us today. She is in Dallas, TX competing at the World Cup/Senior National Diving Competition.  

Brandon Mays: Viera High School – Football, Defense

Brandon Mays is a senior at Viera High School.  He is a four-time All-Cape Coast Conference Defensive player and was selected Class 7A All-State in 2015, 2016 and 2017.  Brandon helped lead his team to the state finals in 2016. In 2017, he was selected Friday Night Locker Room/Space Coast Daily Defensive Player of the Year.

Brandon will graduate Viera High School with a 3.7 GPA.  He has been awarded a scholarship to West Point and will be playing football for Army.

Javian Hawkins: Cocoa High School – Football, Offense
SPONSOR: Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill,  represented by Mike Schwarz

Javian Hawkins is a senior at Cocoa High School. In his final year for the Tigers, Javian accounted for over 2,000 yards and scored 20 TD’s, while leading his team to the state finals.  He was also a standout defensive back for the Cocoa.

In 2016, Javian rushed for 788 yards and nine touchdowns on only 81 carries, an average of almost 10 yards per carry. He also caught 22 passes for 509 yards. Javian was a big part of the Cocoa Tigers Class 4A state championship that year.  Hawkins has signed to play football and continue his education at the University of Louisville.

Manon Donche-Gay: Viera High School – Girls Golf

Mannon Donche-Gay is a junior at Viera High School.  She is a two-time All-Cape Coast Conference honoree. Manon helped her team finish in the top 10 of the FHSAA Girls State Championship. she finished 16th overall as an individual in 2016 shooting 77 on both days.  Manon carries a 3.8 GPA.

Calvin Sierota: Viera High School – Boys Golf

Calvin Sierota is a senior at Viera High School.  He is a four-time All-Cape Coast Conference 1st Team member.  Calvin finished as one of top 12 individuals of the Florida High School Athletics Association Class 3A State Finals all 4 years, with his highest being 5th overall.

Calvin shot a 65 at a tournament at Quail Valley this year and shot under par in every regular season match this year. He will attend Florida State University, and play golf for the Seminoles.

Sean Gallagher: Palm Bay Odyssey Charter School – Boys Sled Hockey

Sean just completed his fifth year as a sled hockey player. He was one of the original members of the current youth team that has been together five years, and won the Youth C National Championship (2016), took 2nd in Youth National B (2017), and third in Youth National A (2018). Sean also joined the adult travel team this season, and helped that team win the Southeast Sled Hockey League Championship in 2018.

Sean, at 15 years old, is one of the leaders in goals and assists on both the adult and youth teams, and has made key scores all season long. He is also one of the smartest players, anticipating the play and making huge offensive and defensive plays all season long.

Madeleine Gallagher: Palm Bay Odyssey Charter School – Girls Sled Hockey

Madeleine Gallagher, at 10 years old, just completed her third year as a sled hockey player for the Space Coast Blast. She joined the youth team three years ago and helped the team win the Youth C National Championship (2016), take 2nd in Youth National B (2017), and third in Youth National A (2018).

Madeleine, like her brother, Sean, is one of the smartest players on the team. She is unafraid to play the puck in traffic and always has a great plan, both with the puck and away from the puck. Her offensive play is fun to watch and creates many scoring opportunities. She does all of this with a look of determination and a huge smile.

Chelsea Smith: Edgewood Jr/Sr High School – Girls Lacrosse
SPONSOR: Courtyard by Marriott/Residence Inn Melbourne, represented by Chiara Kafer

Chelsea Smith is a senior at Edgewood Jr/Sr High School. This season, she scored 84 goals and had 34 assists for the Indians.  Chelsea finished her high school career with an amazing 171 goals.

Chelsea was a Cape Coast Conference Leadership Summit participant. She was selected Athlete of the Week for girls lacrosse multiple times during her high school career. Chelsea is the president of the Spanish Honor Society; captain of her volleyball and lacrosse teams; and has received numerous awards in volleyball, soccer and lacrosse.  Chelsea has been invited to join the U-19 national rugby team.

Chelsea will be graduating with a 4.1GPA and will be attending Palm Beach Atlantic University to play lacrosse and study Athletic Training with a minor in Spanish.

Aran Heath: Melbourne Central Catholic – Boys Lacrosse

Aran Heath is a junior at Melbourne Central Catholic.  He is a Brine National Lacrosse Classic All-American; and has represented the state of Florida from 2013-2018.    Aran has played lacrosse for some of the top coaches in the country.

Besides playing for the Hustlers, his past teams include the Riptide, the Landsharks, and the Renegades.   Aran is quoted as saying, “I would not be where I am but for the Grace of God; and the wonderful coaches in my life that guide me in the right direction and path of my career.”  Aran has verbally committed to attend FIT and play lacrosse for the Panthers.

Brooke Walsh: Viera High School – Girls Soccer

Brooke Walsh is a senior at Viera High School.  She was selected All-Cape Coast Conference in 2016, 2017, and 2018.  This past season, Brooke was selected the Class 4A Dairy Farmers Girls Soccer Player of the Year, which goes to the best soccer player in the State of Florida. She scored 30 goals and had 25 assists.

Brooke will graduate from Viera High School with a 3.9GPA and will attend Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, where she will continue to play soccer.

Drew Keener: Eau Gallie High School – Boys Soccer
SPONSOR: Victory Kid Sports represented by Dr. Stanley and Melissa Patton

Drew Keener is a senior at Eau Gallie High School. This past season, Drew was selected to the All-Cape Coast Conference Soccer Team; and the FACA Florida All-State Soccer Team. He was captain of the Commodores soccer team; and was a two-time MVP of the team. Drew also received the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Senior Excellence Award.

Not only did Drew excel at soccer, but he was outstanding on the tennis courts.  He was named a 2018 FACA Florida Tennis All-Star; and was selected to the 2018 FACA Florida All-State Tennis Team.

Drew will graduate Eau Gallie with a 3.97 unweighted and 4.36 weighted GPA. He has signed to play soccer next year at Lynn University in Boca Raton.

Ashley Stephenson: Rockledge High School – Softball

Ashley Stephenson is a senior at Rockledge High School and pitched for the Raiders.  She was always in the circle when the Raiders played their most challenging opponent. This past season her ERA was a miniscule 0.77.  

She finished her high school career with over 500 strikeouts. Ashley batted over .300 for the fourth consecutive season. Ashley has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and play softball for the University of Central Florida.

Julianna Graf: Titusville High School – Girls Swimming  
SPONSOR: Grills Seafood Deck, represented by Danny Cruden

Julianna Graf is a senior at Titusville High School.  She has accumulated 13 State medals over her four-year career swimming for the Terriers. This, her senior year, she was the District Champion in the 200IM; 100 free; 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.  

In the State games she placed 3rd in the 200IM; 4th in the 100 Free; 5th in the 200 Medley Relay; and 6th in the 200 Free. Julianna was awarded Scholastic All-American this year and is a 4yr scholar-athlete.

Julianna carries a 3.9 unweighted and 4.2 weighted GPA; and will be attending the University of North Florida. Ladies and Gentlemen – Julianna Graf

Lucas Kravchenko: Merritt Island – Boys Swimming

Lucas Kravchenko is a junior at Merritt Island High School. Career and current stats for Lucas include 1st place at Conference, Districts, and Regions in the 200 free and 100 back. In the State meet – 1st in 100 back and 2nd in 200 free.

Lucas has achieved many award and accolades while swimming.  He is an All-American automatic in the 100 back and 200 free.  Lucas broke four school records: 200 free, 50, free, 100 free, and 100 back. He also broke the conference records in the 50 free and 100 back.  It comes as no surprise that Lucas is on the Cape Coast Conference All-Conference Team.

Amelia Fazio-Alliano: Satellite High School – Girls Surfing

Amelia Fazio-Alliano is a freshman at Satellite High School. For a 9th grader, Amelia has been incredibly impressive. She placed 1st in the Women’s Longboard at the Salty Sweet Pro/Am; she recorded a 2nd place finish in the Women’s Longboard at the Waterman’s Challenge. Amelia also had 2nd place finishes in the Junior Women’s Shortboard at the NKF Surf Contest; and Junior Women’s Longboard at the NKF Surf Contest.

Amelia is ranked 4th in Southeast Explorer Women’s; Open Women’s; and Explorer Women’s Longboard.

As far as future goals; Amelia says, “I want to continue to improve my surfing, and be able to compete in NSSA Regionals next year. I also want to attend college and receive a degree.

Fergus “Fergi” Kelly: Satellite High School – Boys Surfing  
SPONSOR: C&D Construction, Inc., represented by Gregg Galzerano

Fergus “Fergi” Kelly is a sophomore at Satellite High School.  He is one of the top young surfers on the East Coast. Fergi is the Open Men’s Southeast Champion; two-time Explorer Juniors Southeast Champion; finished second in the NKF Junior Pro; finished third in the Open Men’s NSSA East Coast Champs; and has a fourth-place finish in the High School Men’s East Coast Champs. Fegi is also an NSAA Nationals qualifier.

One of Fergi’s future goals is to win an East Coast Surfing Title. He would also like to attend college after graduation.

Darin Garland: Eau Gallie High School – Boys Track & Field  
SPONSOR: Coconuts on the Beach, represented by JoJo Holstein

Darin Garland is a senior at Eau Gallie High School. This season Darin had a banner year.  He was the Cape Coast Conference Champion in the 110 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, and Triple Jump. Darin was also a part of the 4×1 team that won the Cape Coast Conference.

He won districts this season in the 110 Hurdles; 300 Hurdles; and 4×1; and was runner-up in the Triple Jump. For his outstanding performance at Regionals, Darin advanced to State in both the Triple Jump and 300.

Darin finished his career at Eau Gallie with three school records, and four state medals  (two in Triple Jump, and one each in the 4×1 and 300 Hurdles.

Darin is currently undecided as to his post-graduation plans. He is considering the military, or possibly running track and playing football in college.

Jatana Folston: Cocoa High School – Girls Track and Field  
SPONSOR: Coconuts on the Beach, represented by JoJo Holstein

Jatana Folston is a junior at Cocoa High School.  She is one of the most talented runners to ever hit the tracks on the Space Coast. Earlier this year Jatana ran the 600m and set a new state record time, US#1 mark, and US#2 all-time mark of 1:32.04. For her performance, she was named Mile Split National Athlete of the Week. Jatana currently holds the #2 all-time record in the state of Florida in the girls indoor 400m.

Jatana won the 400m and 800m at the Cape Coast Conference, District and Regional meets; the first athlete in Brevard County to ever record that feat.  Jatana finished the 2018 season at the State games bringing home three medals.  She was part of the Claas 2A relay team that finished 4th in the 4 x 400; she had a 3rd place finish in the 800; and ran a personal record and placed 1st in the 400.

Jatana plans to attend college on an academic or athletic scholarship.   She will major in Science and enroll in a Dental School after she finishes her undergraduate studies. Jatana’s ultimate goal is to become an Orthodontist.

Gabe Diaz: Viera High School – Boys Tennis  
SPONSOR: Rising Tide, represented by Rich Hensel

Gabe Diaz is a junior at Viera High School.  This season Gabe led the Viera Boys tennis team to their first Cape Coast Conference Championship in school history by winning handily in both #1 Singles and #1 Doubles over Edgewood in Championship matches. Gabe was undefeated in #1 Singles this year again and has NEVER lost a singles match in Cape Coast Conference or district play in his three-year career.

Gabe is a three-time All-Cape Coast Conference player; the District singles and Doubles Champion; and 2017 Doubles State Runner-Up.

He is currently ranked #31 in the state in the USTA rankings and in the top 500 in the country in his age group.

Anabelle Robichaud: Titusville High School – Girls Tennis  
SPONSOR: Cape Crossing Resort & Marina, represented by Jessica Criss

Anabelle Robichaud is a Sophomore at Titusville High School. She played line 1 singles and line 1 doubles for the girl’s tennis team.  Anabelle is a fierce competitor who went undefeated the entire season. Her record was 11-0 for her singles and doubles matches.

Annabelle won her line and is the 2018 District Champion; which allowed her to advance to State as an individual for her singles line.

Anabelle received the “Rookie of the Year Award, “Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete Award,” “Varsity Athletic Award,” and “President’s Educational Awards System, Outstanding Academic Excellence.”

Lexy Denaburg: Merritt Island High School – Indoor Volleyball
SPONSOR: Dr. Roger Goudy, AAU Volleyball, represented by Alan Zlotorzynski

Lexy Denaburg is a junior at Merritt Island High School. She has been All-Conference and All-State for the past two years. Lexy has led the team in kills and digs with an astounding 363 kills and 203 digs.  She has a .357 hitting percentage. Her indoor Club team has qualified three times for the USA Jr. Nationals.

Lexy also excels at Beach Volleyball. Among her many accolades are being named 1st at USA Southern Region High-Performance Beach Team; receiving five 1st place finishes in U-18 Junior Beach tournaments; and1st in GULF Shores Alabama at the Junior National Beach Tournament.

In 2019, Lexy will be attending UCLA on a Beach Volleyball scholarship.

Shae Henson: Merritt Island High School – Beach Volleyball

Shae Henson is a senior at Merritt Island High School.  She excelled in both indoor and outdoor volleyball for Coach Angie Patrick’s Merritt Island Mustangs.  Shae helped lead her Beach Volleyball Team to the District and Region titles. She was also a valuable member of the Merritt Island State Runner-up team. Shae was selected as an All-Conference and All-State Indoor player.  She was the recipient of the Duke Tip Award and carries a 4.41 GPA.

Shae will be attending Stetson University and participate in their Beach program.

Cole Mitchell: Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School – Wrestling

Cole Mitchell is a senior at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School. Cole finished the wrestling season with an amazing 50-4 record. Among his many accomplishments this year, Cole was recognized as Cape Coast Conference Champion; District Champion, Region Runner-Up; and State Runner-Up.

Cole finished his outstanding high school wrestling career as a four-time Conference Champion; four-time District Champion; two-time Region Champion; four-time State Qualifier; and three-time State Medalist.

Cole plans to attend Florida State University in the Summer of 2018 and will major in Finance.

Trey Schaneville: Viera High School – Scholar-Athlete

Trey Schaneville is a senior at Viera High School. Trey is a multi-sport athlete for the Hawks having participated in football, basketball, and track and field.  Trey finished his high school career as the all-time leading scorer in both football and basketball at Viera.

He was a 1st Team selection on the Friday Night Locker Room/Space Coast Daily All-Star football team.  He was also selected as the Offensive Player of the Year on the Friday Night Locker Room/Space Coast Daily All-Star basketball team  Trey was the Viera Hawks representative for the Cape Coast Conference Leadership Council. He also served as a camp counselor for youth sports camps. In addition to this, Trey spent many hours volunteering with the Viera Suntree Little League-Challenger Division. This organization provides children with physical and developmental disabilities the opportunity to participate in athletic events.

Trey received the Distinguished Panther Academic Award from the college of his choice; Florida Institute of Technology.  There, he will play both football and basketball; and will study business and sports management.

Jessica O’Bryan: Titusville High School – Scholar-Athlete

Jessica O’Bryan is a senior at Titusville High School.  As an athlete, she participated in Cross Country and has been a Regional and State qualifier. She has been a scholar athlete for four years and has also been team captain.

As a track and field athlete, Jessica was a Regional qualifier; Scholar Athlete; Team Captain; rated most improved, and set the school record in the Steeplechase. Jessica has been a member of multiple school organizations. including; the Interact Club; Spanish Honor Society; Student Government Association; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Eastern Florida State College Phi Theta Kappa; Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society; National

Honor Society, Key Club; Echo Bible Club; and Academic Team.   Jessica has also volunteered over 400 hours with multiple organizations in Brevard County.

Jessica will be attending the University of South Florida in the fall.

Ted Kimmey:  Coach of the Year – Satellite High School

Coach Ted Kimmey has been selected Coach of the Year.  Coach Kimmey is a West Point graduate and has just completed his first year as head football coach of the Satellite program.  Coach Kimmey has also been an assistant baseball coach.

Coach Kimmey has brought a new theme to the Satellite program– that of being “uncommon”.  It has been his goal to build a team and a program that leaves a lasting legacy, and that brings honor and pride to the school and community.

Coach Kimmey is not just coaching football, he is building young men to be the best they can be. The team regularly goes out into the community and assists residents wherever they may be needed. Yes, Coach Kimmey has been in his position for a relatively short time, but he has made such an impact that he was a unanimous selection for Coach of the Year.

Greg McGrew: Athletic Director of the Year – Heritage High School

Coach Greg McGrew of the Heritage Panthers has been selected Athletic Director of the Year. Coach McGrew began his career in 1975 at Winfield High School in West Virginia where he coached football, basketball, track, and baseball.  Coach McGrew was also the athletic director at Winfield for four years.

Coach McGrew was also the head football coach and AD at Hurricane High School for five years.

Coach McGrew moved to Florida in 1990 and was the head football coach at Johnson Jr High School.  At Palm Bay High School, Coach McGrew coached football and baseball.

Coach McGrew was the athletic director at Bayside High School and was named AD at Heritage High School in 2009. He has served faithfully in that position ever since.

After 44 years of service, Coach McGrew will retire at the end of this year.

Rick Fleming:  Administrator of the Year – West Shore Jr/Sr High School

Mr. Rick Fleming has been selected Administrator of the Year. Among Mr. Fleming’s most recent accolades are being named 2009 Administrator of the Year supporting the Arts; 2015 State of Florida Music Educators Association Administrator of the Year; 2017 Heavy Lifting Award presented by Sheriff Wayne Ivey for Exceptional Volunteerism and Contributions to the Youth of Brevard County; 2018 Brevard County Schools Principal of the Year and 2018 State of Florida Principal of the Year “Finalist.”

For 10 straight years, under Mr. Fleming’s leadership, West Shore has been recognized by US News and World Reports, Washington Post and Newsweek Magazines; being ranked in the Top 50 High Schools in America out of 28,000 nationwide. In 2014 West Shore was rated the #1 High School in the State of Florida.

West Shore was recently nominated by the Florida Department of Education for a third National Blue Ribbon Award; an honor bestowed upon only the most consistently successful schools in the country.  West Shore is the only High School in Florida to have earned this Federal Blue Ribbon Honor 3 times under new criteria changed in 2003.

Colonel Danny R. McKnight, U.S. Army (Retired) – Lifetime Achievement

Colonel Danny McKnight, U.S. Army, Retired, was a multi-sport athlete at Cocoa High School. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate from Florida State University in 1973, where he earned a BS Degree in Management.  In 1985, McKnight earned his Masters Degree in Higher Education from the University of Florida, while assigned as an Assistant Professor of Military Science in the ROTC Department.

His military career included combat duty on two occasions – Panama 1989 and Somalia 1993. His character was depicted in the Book and Movie “Black Hawk Down.”  Colonel McKnight’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (2 awards), the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Master Parachutist Badge with Combat Star, and the Pathfinder Badge.  

After concluding his military career, Colonel McKnight served in two Homeland Security related positions in Brevard County…as the Homeland Security Coordinator for the County’s Emergency Management Office, then as the Homeland Security Training Coordinator in the Criminal Justice Center at Brevard Community College.  Colonel McKnight now focuses all his efforts on being a nationwide motivational speaker.  He and his wife, Linda, currently reside in Rockledge.
