Manatee’s Tabitha Best Named Southern District Elementary School PE Teacher of the Year

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Congratulations to Ms. Tabitha Best, PE teacher at Manatee Elementary, for being named the SHAPE America 2020 Southern District Elementary PE Teacher of the Year.

BPS is proud to have two outstanding teachers named as SHAPE regional winners. Best joins Heritage High School’s PE teacher, Patricia Edwards, who recently was named SHAPE’s Southern District High School PE Teacher of the Year.

Both Best and Edwards are now among five candidates in the elementary and high school categories for National PE Teacher of the Year distinctions, to be awarded at SHAPE’s national conference this April.

SHAPE America is the national organization that serves as the voice for 200,000+ health and physical education professionals across the nation.

Since its founding in 1885, the organization has defined excellence in physical education, and its National Standards for K-12 Physical Education serve as the foundation for well-designed physical education programs across the country.
