SHERIFF IVEY: Fun opportunity for our team members to come together for a fun competitive game and also to share a time of fellowship
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office held our 7th Annual Thanksgiving Day “Turkey Bowl” Flag Football Game that pits the members of their Command Team against other members of their agency for the coveted title of “Turkey Bowl Champions.”
For the past six years I enjoyed playing with the members of our Command Team “Allstars” which won every single year, however this year I decided to switch teams and play alongside the “Stargazers” who not only welcomed me to their team but also delivered a huge victory as they defeated the “Allstars” for the championship!
The game was a true juggernaut with the lead changing hands several times, but in the end, Stargazers quarterback Casey Bratsch drove his team down the field to score the go-ahead touchdown in the final seconds of the game.
The Allstars did make one final push toward the goal line in an effort to protect their six-year championship run but fell just short of the end zone with an interception as time expired leaving the score Stargazers 26 and Allstars 22.
The game played each Thanksgiving Day at Viera High School is a fun opportunity for our team members to come together for a fun competitive game and also to share a time of fellowship while remembering how blessed we are in our lives and to serve as Law Enforcement Officers in Brevard County.
I would like to personally thank everyone who played in today’s game and all of the family and friends who came out to cheer on their team.
Today is just another perfect example of why I love working for this agency so much and an exclamation point on what I mean when I say I am surrounded by 1,500 amazing men and women of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
