Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Provides Safety Tips From Saint in Recognition of Back-to-School

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Well folks, today marks the first official day of the 2026-2027 school year and as always, myself, K-9 Saint, and all of our team members at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, want everyone to have a safe and successful school year.

In order to do that we need our drivers out on the roadway to make sure that we allow extra time in the morning for our routes to school and work, as there will be more people traveling and of course school buses stopping to load kids along the way.

Along with stopping for the buses, make sure you are paying attention to your speeds, especially in the school zones, which will all be active starting this morning and each afternoon!!

Also, as you know, many of our school aged children walk or ride their bikes to school, which means they will be crossing the street to make it to their destinations, so let’s keep the cell phones down and any other distractions put away so that our attention is completely on the road.

Parents, another big safety issue is kids riding their e-bikes. Please make sure you review all of the safety laws with them, especially regarding their speeds, sharing the sidewalks, and when to appropriately cross the street!! Make sure they have a helmet…and are actually wearing it, as it could be the difference between life and death in the event of an accident.

And of course a huge shoutout to all of our School Resource Deputies, Officers, Guardians, and our K-9 team members who stand ready to welcome back all of the students and teachers back to their respective campuses.

Students, we hope you have set some incredible goals for yourselves this year and we wish you the very best in achieving each one of them.

You are the future of our great nation and the next chapter of your journey starts now.
