FHP: Robert Sena of Melbourne Killed After His Vehicle Drove Off Pineda Causeway and Sank

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Robert Sena, 56, was killed after the SUV he was driving left the Pineda Causeway and crashed into the water and then submerged.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Robert Sena, 56, of Melbourne, was killed after the SUV he was driving left the Pineda Causeway and crashed into the water and then submerged.

The crash happened Friday night sometime before 11:25 p.m. near the U.S. Highway 1 – Pineda Causeway intersection.

According to Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Lt. Kim Montes, Sena was driving eastbound on the Pineda Causeway, and for an unknown reason, his 2005 Honda SUV left the roadway and traveled into the water.

The SUV became submerged with Sena inside, according to Lt. Montes.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers located the vehicle at about 11:25 p.m. but it is still unknown what time the SUV crashed into the water.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office dive team assisted in removing the victim from the water.

Lt. Montes said that the crash remains under investigation.
