BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The City of Palm Bay Parks and Recreation Department recently conducted a survey to learn what types of playground features and facilities our residents would like to see following the closure of outdated playgrounds at four City parks.

The results of this survey will be included in future discussions regarding replacements and funding sources. The City wishes to thank everyone who participated in the survey and provided valuable feedback.

Given the number of concerns regarding park closures included in the survey responses, the City of Palm Bay would like to address the misconception and provide clarification for residents.

The City is not closing four parks. Playground facilities at four City parks were removed in December after an inspection determined that the playground equipment was outdated and beyond a useful lifespan.

The playgrounds at the following parks have been removed:

  • Liberty Park, located at 895 Carlyle Avenue SE
  • Oakwood Park, located at 490 Koutnik Road SE
  • Riviera Park, located at 550 Riviera Drive NE
  • Veterans Memorial Park, located at 2201 Port Malabar Boulevard NE

While the playground facilities at the parks listed above are now closed, the four parks will remain open.

As the City reviews survey feedback and consider possible playground replacement options, the public is encouraged to visit playgrounds located at nearby parks.

Near Liberty Park and Oakwood Park, visit Inspiration Park located at 751 Consumer Street SE. Near Riviera Park, visit Arc Park, located at 1381 Riviera Drive NE.

Near Veterans Memorial Park, visit the Tony Rosa Community Center, located at 1502 Port Malabar Boulevard NE.

The City of Palm Bay apologizes for any confusion regarding the playground closures.

The City of Palm Bay is committed to providing residents with exceptional recreational facilities and community events.
