Pedestrian in Cocoa Killed in Hit-and-Run, Suspected Driver Turns Himself In Hours Later

A Cocoa man was killed early Wednesday morning after he was hit by a car on Friday Rd. and Baggett Place.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A Cocoa man was killed early Wednesday morning after he was hit by a car on Friday Rd. and Baggett Place.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Jason Strandberg.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after hitting Strandberg around 3:20 a.m.

However, the driver turned himself into the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office at 5 a.m. when he called 911 stating he struck a person with his vehicle.

The driver, 48-year-old Eric Ferguson from Melbourne, was placed under arrest by state troopers and taken to the Brevard County Jail.

Ferguson has been charged Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death. His initial court date is scheduled for Thursday.
