SPACE COAST DAILY TV ON THE TOWN: Galactic Fundraiser Set Tonight to Show ‘Star Wars – The Rise of Skywalker’ Friday to Raise Money for Homeless Families. Space Coast Daily’s Susanne Vaughn and Zach Clark are Live at The Courtyard of the Oaks in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Galactic Fundraiser hosted by Rock Paper Simple at the Oaks Theater in Melbourne recently raised $10,000, which was then matched by the Space Coast Association of Realtors for a total of $20,000 and was donated to “You’re The Key,” a non-profit coalition dedicated to keeping families in homes across Brevard County.

Funds were raised from ticket sales, drinks, sponsorships, raffles and a silent auction by Rock Paper Simple, a Melbourne-based web design and digital marketing agency.

The event was centered around a private showing of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars character meet and greets, and a great spread of food.

Rock Paper Simple founder and “Head Honcho” Joshua Adams was very happy with the turnout and support for You’re the Key and the Event.

“I’m very proud of the impact our team made on the community that evening,” said Adams.

“This event was organized and run entirely by volunteers from Rock Paper Simple and Family Promise of Brevard. We set a goal of raising $10,000 and because of the Space Coast Association of Realtors, we actually doubled that and had a blast doing it!”

Production of the showing was made possible by companies across Brevard such as Space Coast Daily, Artemis IT, Ambassador Services, Morescom, Alluvionic, Wild Ocean Market, Everything Brevard and Carroll Distributing who provided drinks for the cash bar.

With close to 250 attendees, the event was a resounding success as signed jerseys from Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens and Jake Scott of the Miami Dolphins were auctioned off alongside other items like a signed Burt Reynolds Smokey and the Bandit picture frame and signed Star Wars Memorabilia.

Attendees were also entered in a raffle for door prizes donated by businesses around Brevard County.

This was the second edition of The Galactic Fundraiser with the first happening in 2017 and proceeds going to The Children’s Hunger Project. Funds raised in the 2019 Galactic Fundraiser went directly to paying the way for families to keep their homes and stability that a roof over their head provides.

Plans are in progress for another Galactic Fundraiser and will be announced once more details are known about future Star Wars films.
