Melbourne Police are investigating a weekend shooting at the Galaxy Skateway in Melbourne on Sunday that injured two people, including one juvenile.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a weekend shooting at the Galaxy Skateway in Melbourne on Sunday that injured two people, including one juvenile.

Police say the early investigation shows that during that event, two small groups within the crowd began physically fighting at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday.

The people involved within the altercations were armed with handguns, where ultimately shots were fired.

Officers were called to the scene with numerous emergency calls that were received through 911 at approximately 1:09 a.m.

Police say the event that drew a large crowd of teenagers and young adults to the Galaxy Skateway, located at 1488 Aurora Rd. in Melbourne.

Officers arrived as the crowd was leaving the area. Initially, police were unable to locate any victims. However, it was later discovered two males arrived on their own at a local hospital shortly after.

The two shooting victims indicated they were struck while attempting to flee the building. The victims’ injuries were not life-threatening and they are expected to make a full recovery, according to police.

At this time, this case is still under active investigation.

Police say the event that drew a large crowd of teenagers and young adults prior to the shooting happened at the Galaxy Skateway, located at 1488 Aurora Road in Melbourne.
