BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — The Merritt Island Christian Cougars have become the first team in Brevard to start an eight-man football team.

Space Coast Daily’s Ron Lighthall caught up with head coach Greg Gage to discuss MICS’ unprecedented 2-0 start.

Senior Dom Pratt and Junior Nathan Nevad, who both play on offense and defense, commented on how grateful they are to be able to play given the circumstances with the ongoing pandemic.

The undefeated Cougars have outscored their opponents 112-18 in their first two games and will host their first home game on Friday at 7 p.m. against the Harvest Warriors.

Founded in 1977, MICS offers Pre-K through 12th grade and is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Southern Baptist Association of Christian Schools.
