Merritt Island scores 3 unanswered goals after 1-2 deficit in first half

The Merritt Island boys soccer team advanced to the regional final in the FHSAA playoffs Sturday night after 4-2 victory over the Rockledge Raiders.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Merritt Island boys soccer team advanced to the regional final in the FHSAA playoffs Sturday night after 4-2 victory over the Rockledge Raiders.

With the Rockledge Raiders ahead 2-1 in the first half, the Mustangs (16-1-1) rallied for three unanswered goals, with two of those goals scored in the second half to propel Merritt Island into the next week’s regional final matchup at Bishop Moore on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

The game was considered a revenge game for Merritt Island, who suffered their lone loss to Rockledge back on Feb. 9.

Rockledge finishes the season with an overall record of  10-3-5.
