WATCH: Taylor Jensen continues to make the game of softball look easy as she excels at the collegiate level for the Florida SouthWestern State College Bucs in Fort Myers.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Taylor Jensen continues to make the game of softball look easy as she excels at the collegiate level for the Florida SouthWestern State College Buccaneers in Fort Myers.
Jensen graduated from Viera High School in 2019 and during her senior season was named the Friday Night Locker Room – Space Coast Daily Breakfast of Champions Softball Player of the Year, which recognized the top softball player in Brevard County.
She chose to continue her academic and athletic career at Florida SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers, and during her first year hit an astounding .552 with 4 home runs and 22 RBI’S.
Unfortunately for Jensen and her teammates, COVID-19 shut down the later part of the season as it was a season in which the Bucs were primed to make a deep run into the playoffs.
When the 2021 season began, Florida SouthWestern was the preseason #1 team in the nation. The season has progressed as anticipated with the Buc’s having a superb season and despite a slow start at the plate, Jensen’s batting average is now well above .400.
Most of Jensen’s playing time is spent behind the dish as she is one of the top catchers, not only in the Suncoast Conference, but in the nation.
When asked about the Buc’s pitching staff, Jensen said, “Each pitcher brings something different to the table. Every single one of them is amazing. They work so hard every day to get better. It’s just fun to watch them grow as players.”
Florida SouthWestern State College has their eye on one thing – a national championship. It would be their first one in softball, and it is a distinct possibility, especially with players like Jensen wearing the purple and aqua.
