Little League Report: Port St. John, Merritt Island Win in All-Star Baseball Action

Day 2 games are scheduled for Tuesday night

The final division (10/11/12 Baseball) of District 22 All-Stars got underway tonight at Merritt Island LL’s Mitchell Ellington Park, with two games.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The final division (10/11/12 Baseball) of District 22 All-Stars got underway tonight at Merritt Island LL’s Mitchell Ellington Park, with two games.

10/11/12 District 22 All-Star Baseball: Port St. John 8, Indian River City 5

On Field 1, the all-stars from Port St. John LL were on the visiting side, while Indian River City LL were in the home dugout. Port scored 2 runs in the top of the first from Carter Spirale and Kadyn Thomas who both reached on singles.

IRC answered back with a run in their half of the first when Jacob Bercaw scored after reaching on a single. Bercaw, Chase Hill, John Broad and Ryan Nicolaisen would score in the bottom of the third to give IRC a 5-1 lead going into the fourth inning.

Port would then get runs from Ayden Williams and William Welte in the fourth and Jaxon Wise in the fifth to knot it up at 5 going into the sixth.

Port would reclaim the lead in the top of the sixth with a 3-run homer from Thomas. When IRC’s bats fell short in the bottom of the sixth, Port had an 8-5 victory after a hard fought game 1.

10/11/12 District 22 All-Star Baseball: Merritt Island 22, Rockledge 0

Over on field 2, Merritt Island LL set up shop in the visiting dugout while Rockledge LL was the home team. Rockledge’s Josh Howard singled in the third for their only hit.

Merritt Island’s Vince Barchanowilcz and Zane Taival combined on the mound for a shutout. Liam Miller was 3-for-3 with 3 doubles and scored all three times at bat to help lead Merritt Island to the 22-0 win in 3 innings.

Day 2 games are scheduled for Tuesday night.
