Palm Bay Police Arrest Two Women for Animal Cruelty After Leaving Dogs in Hot Vehicle for Nearly Two Hours

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police officials arrested 20-year-old Makayla Harper and 26-year-old Holly Ellison for cruelty to animals and confinement of animals without food or water.

On Tuesday afternoon, officers received a complaint that two dogs were left in an unattended vehicle that was not running and had the windows slightly cracked open.

Palm Bay Police arrived at the Bluffs Condos off US-1 and observed the vehicle with two dogs inside who were in desperate need of care.

Shortly thereafter, two women approached the officers claiming the dogs as theirs.

After a brief investigation, the two women were arrested. Both women have been charged with cruelty to animals and confinement of animal without food/water, and were transported to the Brevard County Jail.

According to Palm Bay Police, witnesses stated that the dogs had been left in the vehicle for at least two hours.

“We are thankful for the citizens who contacted us and the officers who took immediate action that ultimately saved these two dogs lives,” said Palm Bay Police Department.
