BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Enjoy the 3rd Annual ‘Independence Day’ Parade along State Road 520 in front of the Merritt Square Mall on Merritt Island.

The parade is a static parade, so dress up the family in their favorite red, white, and blue outfits and drive by all of the parade participants and floats while staying inside the comfort of your air-conditioned car.

While the 4th of July is on Sunday this year, we are holding our parade on Saturday, July 3, from 9 a.m. until 11 am. so that we do not conflict with Sunday Morning Church services.

And of course, after you drive by the static parade, be sure to stop in at the Veteran’s Memorial Center where there will be food trucks, patriotic displays, and an opportunity to view what I believe is one of the best Veteran’s Museums in the nation.

The number of this year’s parade floats and participants already exceeds last year’s parade and it is going to be a beautiful day to celebrate our nation’s independence and freedom.

It was an amazing feeling during last year’s parade to watch all of the cars and families drive by with their vehicles decorated in red, white, and blue, and their children holding handmade signs that show their pride in our great country and also their support for the proud men and women of law enforcement.

In addition to the many participants from the community, there will be plenty of resources from the Sheriff’s Office on display such as our bomb robot, marine units, bloodhounds, and various other resources that our agency uses every day to protect our community.

And of course, America’s Top Police Dog “Junny” will be there to help us celebrate the many blessings we have in this great country, so load up the family and come on out Saturday morning along S.R. 520 in Merritt Island to help us show our pride in the greatest country on earth the United States of America.
