Sunshine State Conference Coaches Put Florida Tech Panthers Men’s Soccer at No. 4 in Preseason Poll

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech men’s soccer team checked in at No. 4 on Friday when the Sunshine State Conference coaches’ released their annual preseason poll.

The Panthers are coming off a shortened spring season in which the team earned a 1-2-1 record including a 2-1 decision over PBA to kick off the campaign.

Tech returns seven men from the 2019 squad that finished second in the SSC standings earning a bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2016 and securing their first tournament win since 1993.

Among the returners is All-South Region selection Guillermo Segovia Marcos and two-time All-Conference performer Stain Hagboe Olsen.

The 2019 SSC regular season and tournament champions, Lynn, are expected to repeat tallying 97 points with seven first-place votes. PBA is second with two first-place votes and 90 points while Nova Southeastern collected the remaining two first-place votes to take the No. 3 spot with 49 points.

Tech finds itself just outside the lead pack with 68 points while Tampa rounds out the top five tallying 65 points. Rollins sits in sixth (65) followed by Barry (46), Florida Southern (44), Saint Leo (32), Embry-Riddle (16), and Eckerd (15) rounding out the bottom of the poll.

Coach Robin Chan and the Panther men open the 2021 season on the road on Sept. 2 when they travel to Wingate, N.C. for a 7 p.m. match against Wingate.
