Titans Shutout Daytona State as Eastern Florida Women’s Soccer Win Region 8 Title For 11th Straight Season

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team won the Region 8 title for the 11th straight season on Saturday night at Orlando Health Stadium.

The No. 3 Titans defeated Daytona State College 2-0 Saturday to improve to 6-1-3 on the season. Eastern Florida State College will advance to the South Atlantic District Final against Spartanburg Methodist who won the Region 10 title on Saturday.

The game will be played at Orlando Health Stadium.

On Saturday the Titans scored a goal in each half as Alexia Spencer found Courtney Jade Butlion who hit a shot past the keeper with five minutes and seven seconds left in the first half. It was Butlion’s third goal of the season

The game would remain 1-0 until the 71st minute when Spencer found Laura Cetina, who hit a nice shot into the back of the net to make it 2-0. It was also Cetina’s third goal of the season.

It was the third straight year the two teams have met in the championship game.
