(247sports.com) – Orlando Magic guard Cole Anthony will participate in the Slam Dunk Contest at NBA All-Star Weekend in Cleveland next month, Shams Charania reports.

Anthony, a former first-round pick out of North Carolina, is having a breakout season for the Magic and is averaging 17.9 points, six rebounds, and six assists per game.

At 6-foot-3, Anthony, the son of former NBA player Greg Anthony, is one of the NBA’s most explosive guards and should be able to test the laws of physics near the rim at All-Star Weekend with ferocity at the rim.

Earlier this week, Anthony was fined $25,000 by the NBA after derogatory remarks made toward a game official following a matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.

As a rookie last season, Anthony averaged 12.9 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. Those numbers have increased across the board, along with his minutes, as a second-year starter in Orlando.
