BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Well, I hope everyone had a good and safe New Year’s Eve. It is great to be starting out the new year in our new offices and we’re all ready to get down to business with new TDC meetings, as well as new committees in the coming months.

Our first Tourist Development Council meeting will be held on Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Florida Room, Building C of the Government Center in Viera.

We will have three new TDC members and the members will be selecting their Chair and Vice-Chair at this meeting, so we’re very excited about that.

Then in February, the TDC will select all their members for the five standing committees – Beach, Cultural, Marketing, Sports and Capital Facilities.

Committee meetings will begin in March and the new grant cycles will start.

This year we will have funding for Indian River Lagoon Grants (up to $1 million), Cultural Grants ($350,000 for Cultural Support and Major Event Grants), Sports Grants ($200,000), and Capital Facilities Grants ($1.5 million).

Each grant is posted on the Brevard County website when the application cycle opens.

So it looks like it will be a very busy and productive year for all our committees and staff that support them. Look out 2022, here we come!
