WATCH: Satellite High School’s new head football coach Knox Robinson sat down with Space Coast Daily’s Juan Rodriguez to talk about his new position for the Scorps and plans for next season.

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – Satellite High School’s new head football coach Knox Robinson sat down with Space Coast Daily’s Juan Rodriguez to talk about his new position for the Scorps and plans for next season.

In his first year with Satellite, Coach Robinson led an offense that helped produce a Division Championship and undefeated regular season and Satellite had its best point differential in more than 50 years with the offense amassing 296 points scored – 37 points per game average.

He also coached the quarterback group where Gage Malkin earned All-State Honorable Mention honors with a 123.1 QB rating throwing for 1,205 yards with 19 TDs and a 71% passing completion.

Coach Robinson was the head coach/offensive coordinator at Lake Weir High School in Ocala, Florida from 2017-2019 where he led the Hurricanes to their first playoff win in the school’s 64-year history of football.

Coach Robinson attended McIntosh County Academy in Darien, Georgia and played football all four years. He then graduated from LaGrange College where he majored in Political Science and lettered in football from 2009-2012 as a quarterback.

Satellite Scorpion head coach Ted Kimmey announced his resignation from the program on Tuesday.

Kimmey coached the Scorps for the last five seasons, posting a 36-16 record and culminated with reaching the regional finals last season.

Kimmey released the following statement on Tuesday afternoon to announce his resignation:

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as the head football coach at the greatest school in the State of Florida. This has been a very difficult decision.

My faith and family are extremely important to me. The time has come for me to face new challenges that allow me to lead and inspire off the field with the most important people in my life – my family. It is – without question – what is best for the program, myself and most importantly – my family.

In 2014, I made a blind move to Satellite Beach in order to coach football and stabilize my family. Eight years later – I now feel like I grew up here, I am raising my kids here and I am proud to call it my home.

Satellite Beach can do that to you! This program, community and school welcomed my family and I with open arms and I have no doubt that it was one of the best choices of my life to move here.

Satellite High School football has been the source of so many lifetime memories for me. The culture, energy and people are unlike any other program. I am incredibly proud to have been part of Satellite Football’s journey and it has been the honor of my life to serve as the head coach here for the last 5 years.

I believe in leaving things better than you found them, and I have no doubts that we have done that here. We have built a championship culture that promotes winning both on the field and in life after high school.

I would like to thank all of the Scorpion Football players over the last five years. I had a blast coaching you – no one is tougher than a Scorp. I will treasure the memories forever, and I hope you learned a thing or two. I would also like to thank all of our assistant coaches – some of the finest men I have ever known – I love you guys and I will miss you all dearly.

To the administration – thank you for taking a chance on me and your unwavering support Thank you to the Touchdown Club & our football family -no one has it better than a Scarp when it comes to parent, community and alumni support. Thank you Satellite Beach for making Friday Nights in our stadium such a special place to play football.

Allison and myself are still deeply invested in this great school and grateful every day that we live in such a wonderful community with high values. I plan on continuing to raise my kids in this community for this very reason.

I am still very passionate about the future success of Satellite Football. I am here to support the next coach and the school for the foreseeable future in whatever capacity is needed off the field. I will Need red and silver forever.
