American Space Museum to Host ‘Golden Anniversary of the Dawn of the Space Shuttle Era’ on April 16

The American Space Museum will host the “Golden Anniversary of the Dawn of the Space Shuttle Era” on Saturday, April 16th at Hyatt Place Titusville from 9 am – 5 pm, featuring talks and fellowship with space workers and astronauts.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The American Space Museum will host the “Golden Anniversary of the Dawn of the Space Shuttle Era” on Saturday, April 16th at Hyatt Place Titusville from 9 am – 5 pm, featuring talks and fellowship with space workers and astronauts.

The public is welcome to rub shoulders with the “national treasures” of America’s storied Space Shuttle program as scheduled to appear for short talks, panel discussions and lots of interaction are launch directors, keyspace workers, and an astronaut or two.

The non-profit American Space Museum has partnered with the Astronaut Memorial Foundation to present this special 50th Shuttle anniversary event at the beautiful, new Hyatt Place Titusville/Kennedy Space Center on U.S. 1.

In April 1972, the U.S. Congress approved the Space Transportation System in April 1972 and changed our world forever.

First launched on April 12, 1981, the fleet of five Shuttle Orbiters became a symbol of triumph and tragedy around the world during its 30 years of operation and 135 missions.

ASM is honored to assemble a cross-section of the Shuttle era, from vehicle managers to the launch directors, and some of the astronauts who rode the world’s first reusable spaceship.

Scheduled to appear are launch directors Bob Sieck, Jim Harrington, and Mike Leinbach; KSC director Jay Honeycutt and astronaut Mike McCulley.

Space workers scheduled include; Hugh Harris, public affairs office; Terry White, Shuttle manager; Dean Schaaf, Transoceanic Abort Landings; Jean Wright, “Sew Sister” at Thermal Protection System; and Travis “Triple T” Thompson, lead of White Room.

Vendors lined up include Ken Havekotte Space Covers, Sew Sister Creations, JL Pickering & John Bisney book signing,
and more to come.

The “Golden Anniversary” Shuttle event will be broadcast live on ASM’s “Stay Curious” social media platforms of Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, and Twitch.
