BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Office Officer Edward Hartzell joined the department in February 2021. He was born and raised in Eau Gallie and graduated from Eau Gallie High School.

He went to community college after high school and then was awarded a scholarship at Kentucky Christian University where he played strong safety for the “Knights” football team in the Mid-South Conference.

Officer Hartzell just turned 29 years old, and he still loves football, can bench 300, and squat about 315. He still loves to play football and hopes his 4-year-old son plays one day.

If he doesn’t, maybe his soon-to-be-born son will, better yet, maybe they both will!

If you see Officer Hartzell around town, make sure you say hi.

“We are sure he won’t mind talking football or weightlifting or parenting, or what it’s like to be a police officer, or what’s happening in your neighborhood, or how to just be an all-around good person,” said Cocoa Police officials

Officer Hartzell is currently assigned to Echo Squad.
