BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol reported a 48-year-old man and his 17-year-old son were ejected from their golf cart after being hit in the rear by an unknown pick-up truck near Harlock Road and Lake Washington Road in Melbourne on Monday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 9 p.m. when the two victims were traveling northbound in a golf cart on Harlock Road, just north of the intersection of  Lake Washington road.

“The unknown pick-up truck was traveling northbound as well and failed to slow down or stop for the golf cart traveling in the roadway,” said FHP in a release.

“The front of the pick-up truck collided with the rear, and the impact resulted in the two passengers ejecting from the golf cart.”

The unknown pick-up truck fled from the scene and was last seen traveling northbound on Harlock Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The victims were both transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center as trauma alerts in critical condition.

Florida Highway Patrol said they are looking for a white pick-up truck that is potentially a Chevy Silverado with a large toolbox across the back window. The body style resembles a newer model Chevy Silverado from the year 2014 forward. The vehicle also appeared to be towing a small open trailer at the time of the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
