Cocoa Beach Karate, Police Department Host Assault Prevention Seminar at Kids Summer Camp

Sensei Chaskelson: Safety is a key issue for the public

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Karate, together with the Cocoa Beach Police Department, once again provided assault prevention and self-defense seminar for kids at the Our Saviors summer camp.
Kids were shown and practiced basic karate techniques like blocks, punches, elbows, and kicks and how to be aware of their surroundings and avoid potential danger.
The seminar was one of many conducted by Cocoa Beach Karate, working with the CBPD community policing department to provide information and basic techniques to the public on how to avoid and deal with potentially dangerous situations.
“Safety is a key issue for the public,” said Cocoa Beach Karate Sensei Des Chaskelson.
“We provide information and teach basic techniques at the seminars. We also teach and practice more advanced techniques in our regular karate classes. We start with beginners all the way up to the black belt. All welcome.”
Sensei Chaskelson is a 6th-degree black belt having started his karate training in New York City in 1987.
In 2002 he moved to Cocoa Beach and founded the Cocoa Beach Karate Dojo, which still going strong today. Classes are available for kids, teens and adults and families.
