School Crossing Guards are vital to the safety of our children along our roadways

As they gear up to start the upcoming school year, the Palm Bay Police Department is looking for dedicated community members to join its School Crossing Guard team. The position is 10 hours per week – 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon each weekday, excluding holidays. Compensation is $11.86 per hour.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – As they gear up to start the upcoming school year, the Palm Bay Police Department is looking for dedicated community members to join its School Crossing Guard team.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Prior training and experience are not required to obtain this position. Training for certification is provided after being hired. See special requirements below. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and have and maintain an acceptable driving record.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Successful completion of the Federal Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) 8-hour School Crossing Guard certification within 90 days of the date of hire.

Selected candidates will be required to complete a thorough background check which includes the completion of a background packet, fingerprints, and a drug screen. A medical exam will also be required (paid for by the City).
