Brevard Hispanic Center to Kickoff Hispanic Heritage Month with ‘Viva Brevard Gala’ on Oct. 15

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, get ready to party not just once but twice, as the Board of Directors of the Brevard Hispanic Center hosts two very different events anticipated to attract thousands of guests.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, get ready to party not just once but twice, as the Board of Directors of the Brevard Hispanic Center hosts two very different events anticipated to attract thousands of guests.

“Both events celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and help to raise funds for the Brevard Hispanic Center,” said Al Dia Today publisher and Hispanic Center founder Javier Molinares.

“We are raising funds to develop an assistive technology lab to allow visually impaired individuals to be more inclusive in the DEI discourse.”

Six outstanding community members will be honored at the Viva Brevard Gala, which runs from 6 p.m. to Midnight, Saturday, October 8, at the Red Ginger Restaurant in Melbourne Square Mall. The festive dinner also includes plenty of live Latin music and cultural entertainment.

“We’ll have some great entertainment, great food, and many folkloric groups,” said Molinares.

Both events benefit the Brevard Hispanic Center, a nonprofit organization that works to help not just Hispanics but all individuals to develop their talents and fully exercise their rights.

The organization promotes multicultural integrations through services that address health, education, employment, finances, immigration, family, and housing issues.

The English Language Integration Program offers free services to help overcome the hurdle of language barriers that may be hindering employment success.

Educational services at the Brevard Hispanic Center also assist high school and college students in seizing the opportunities of local, national, and international scholarships to achieve their academic goals.

Brevard Hispanic Center is also home to the DelaCruz Volunteer Health Clinic, where low-income area residents without health insurance can access free health assistance. Volunteer staff, bilingual in Spanish and English, provide routine care and referrals to any uninsured individual, regardless of their cultural or ethnic background.

Accessing medical care is a critical issue for many Hispanics who lack financial resources and are unfamiliar with English.

“We see patients who haven’t been to a doctor in years,” said Molinares.

Additionally, Brevard Hispanic Center helps the unemployed find jobs by training them to prepare for interviews, build resumes, and network with potential employers.

Sponsorships for the Viva Brevard Gala range from $1,000 to $5,500. Individual tickets are $80 per person or $150 per couple.

The party continues a week later with a free outdoor festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, October 15, at Fred Poppe Regional Park. The Viva Brevard Festival and Business Expo is a colorful explosion of Hispanic countries’ music, sights, and tastes.

The event will feature back-to-back musical entertainment and a vendor village offering guests a range of consumer information and opportunities.
