BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Brevard Public Schools have partnered with the nonprofit agency Grandparents Raising Grandchildren of Brevard County to host Brevard’s first annual “Thousand Grands Walk” on Saturday, Oct. 22. This free event will take place at the Viera High School track.
October 22 is National Make A Difference Day and organizers are hoping for a great turnout to make a difference.
Families are encouraged to join their students as they come together to stomp out bullying and encourage kindness in and out of school. The event will also honor all grandparents, especially those who have become parents again.
Thousands of Brevard students are being raised by grandparents, let’s show our support and respect by filling the track.
Student Ambassadors from each school can help spread the word and recognition will be made to the school with the most participation.
Add some fun by dressing up like Granny or Gramps for a costume contest, which will have a few age categories and prizes will be awarded.
This family-friendly event includes an easy walk around the track, followed by food and games. and visit vendor tables to see what Brevard has to offer.
Admission is free and commemorative t-shirts will be handed out while supplies last. Student volunteers will accept any donations of non-perishable food items, school supplies, unwrapped new toys, or cash to support GRG of Brevard at the event entrance.
