The Brevard County Grand Jury indicted 31-year-old James Green on two counts of First-Degree Premeditated Murder in connection to the deaths of Alford Baker, 63, and Teresa Baker, 61, found dead at their home on Tanglewood Lane in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Grand Jury indicted 31-year-old James Green on two counts of First-Degree Premeditated Murder in connection to the deaths of Alford Baker, 63, and Teresa Baker, 61, found dead at their home on Tanglewood Lane in Melbourne.

On August 16, 2022, just before 9:30 am, Pooler Police in Georgia responded to a disturbance call and made contact with Green who was driving a silver Toyota with Florida registration. Green said the car belonged to his uncle Alford Baker, and he had just arrived from Melbourne.

Pooler Officers found a 9 mm pistol in the car and arrested Green for possession of a firearm by convicted felon. They also requested Melbourne Police contact Baker at the listed address to see if he knew Green was in possession of his vehicle.

Just after 10 a.m., MPD officers discovered an open door at the Tanglewood Lane home, and the bodies of Alford and Teresa Baker inside.

The Brevard Medical Examiner determined both victims died of gunshot wounds and classified the deaths as homicides. In a subsequent interview with Melbourne detectives, Green admitted to shooting both victims and fleeing in their vehicle.

Green claimed he became homeless after being put out of his uncle’s home and was angry with the victims for not supporting him.

After hearing testimony from the Medical Examiner and Melbourne Investigators, the Grand Jury also indicted Green for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

Green is being held on No Bond at the Brevard County Jail.

Trial date has not been set in this case.
