Gregory Blocker Charged with Robbery by Sudden Snatching, False Imprisonment, Tampering with a Victim and Battery

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Unit personnel coaxed a barricaded suspect to surrender after an incident that happened Friday afternoon.

According to Melbourne Police Sgt. Ben Slover, the incident began at about 3:06 p.m. Friday when the Melbourne Police Department received a call for a loud disturbance heard inside an apartment located at 281 San Juan Ci.

“After officers arrived, probable cause was developed for the arrest of Gregory Cleveland Blocker,” said Sgt. Slover. “When the officers approached Blocker, he fled on foot through the complex.”

Blocker, 28, was eventually able to make it back into his apartment, where he barricaded himself inside.

“Melbourne’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Unit responded to the scene,” said Sgt. Slover.

“Contact was made with Blocker by members of the Crisis Negotiations Unit. As a result of the negotiation, Blocker surrendered himself without further incident.”

Blocker was charged with Robbery by Sudden Snatching, False Imprisonment, Tampering with a Victim, Battery (Domestic Violence) and Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
