BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Officer Darin Morgan has retired after 20 years of dedicated service to the community and its citizens.

Officer Morgan began his career in 1998 as a telecommunicator for our agency and attended the police academy in 2002, becoming a full-time law enforcement officer.

He is well known for his passion in cases involving alcohol and drug impairment and for sharing that knowledge with fellow officers, academy recruits, and courtroom testimony.

Officer Morgan’s resume is quite lengthy and remarkable. He has served as an Officer, Field Training Officer, Corporal, Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Traffic Officer, Traffic Homicide Investigator, DRE Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Breath Test Operator and Instructor.

An instructor at the local police academy for 12 years, teaching basic and advanced training courses, he is also a court-recognized expert in impairment and has been for the last 17 years.

Through all his training and experience with DUI investigations, Officer Morgan has made over 1,500 DUI arrests and has been recognized several times by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

There is no doubt that through Officer Morgan’s dedication and passion for being a law enforcement officer, he has saved thousands of lives by taking impaired drivers off the street and teaching other officers how to do the same.

“His commitment to our agency by seeking justice for the victims of traffic homicides or serious bodily injury crashes has always been his highest priority,” said a Palm Bay Police Department spokesperson.

“Officer Morgan established relationships with multiple neighboring jurisdictions, including the State Attorney’s Office and defense attorneys.”
