OBITUARY: Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Bruce Mease Passed Away Jan. 12 at 75

Bruce Wayne Mease, a veteran of the United States Air Force, peacefully passed away on January 12, 2023, at the age of 75. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 1/2 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1988.

Bruce was born September 14 in Vernam Field, Jamaica, BWI to David Doyle Mease and Margaret Elizabeth Lucas Mease.

He grew up in Orlando, Florida, and graduated from Colonial High School. He went on to Georgia Tech and earned a degree in Physics

He went on to serve in the United States Air Force for 22 1/2 years, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1988. While serving in the USAF his tours of duty took him to Korea and England.

While stationed in England he met and married his adoring wife, Sylvia who was a wonderful, loving husband, treated her like a Queen and will remain in her heart until reunited for eternity.

He then owned a TV/VCR repair shop.

He was a loving, caring father to their three children, Sharon Mease Thomas (Jim) David Mease, and Billie Jo Mease Bessent (Marc). Pappap to Joshua Thomas, Adam Hargraves, Alec Hargraves, Perrissa Sepmoree (Patrick), Pearce Bessent, Caedon Bessent, and Trinity Mease. Great Grandfather to Braelyn and Cage Thomas and Godparent to Denise and Darren Harper (UK).

He also leaves behind an “extended family” he thought the world of, the Burr, Olivera, and Highsmith families.

He made friends wherever he went, shopping in Publix or sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office. Bruce was devoted to his country, wife, family, and the Miami Dolphins.

His military awards include AF Commendation Medal, AF Training Ribbon, Combat Readiness Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon With Four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon With One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, AF Outstanding Unit Award With One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Good Conduct Medal With A Silver And One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Margaret Mease, and his brothers Robert Roland Mease and David Doyle Mease Jr.
