BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Department officials reported the data results from the 2022 Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Uniform Crime Report.

“We are proud to report the data submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Uniform Crime Report shows the overall crime rate in the City of Cocoa dropped by 4.1%,” said Cocoa Lt. Mike Dellatorre.

Nearly every crime in the violent crime category was down. However, a significant increase in aggravated assaults caused an increase in the rate of violent crime.

“There have been and will continue to be targeted operations to reduce the violent crime rate, especially aggravated assaults. These efforts are already showing results.”

Lt. Dellatorre is responsible for the Criminal Investigation Division, and in the above video, he provides an update on the crime data and how the agency is moving forward to continue to reduce crime and improve the quality of life for residents, business owners, and visitors.
