Law Enforcement
A career in Law Enforcement begins with the entry-level position of Deputy Recruit.
Applicants must:
■ Be at least 20 years of age
■ Be a United States citizen
■ Be a High School Graduate or possess a State Equivalency
■ Not have any convictions for felonies or misdemeanor offenses involving moral turpitude as outlined in FS 943.13(7)
■ Pass Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice and Training physical requirements
■ Certification by Florida State Examination for Law Enforcement professionals
■ Certification by Florida Police Standards Commission
■ Must have an eyesight correctable to 20/30
■ Possess normal hearing at a distance of 15 feet
■ Pass the BCSO Physical Abilities Test (Download Details)

Corrections
A career in Corrections offers many challenges and rewards. There are numerous promotional opportunities and specialized assignments available.
Entry-level positions include civilian Booking Technician or Corrections Technician.
Corrections Deputy Trainees can attend the Corrections Academy on a scholarship to obtain State Certification to become a Corrections Deputy while earning a salary working at the Jail.
Correction Deputy applicants must:
■ Be at least 18 years of age
■ Be a United States Citizen
■ Be a High School Graduate or possess a State Equivalency
■ Not have any convictions for felonies or misdemeanor offenses involving moral turpitude
■ Be certified as a Corrections Officer by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards Commission at the time of employment.
