BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – If you could live and work anywhere in the United States, where would it be? What kind of lifestyle would you choose? What defines the place you want to call home and build a life?

Imagine you suddenly had the information and opportunity to make such a bold choice. When thinking about your options, it can be paralyzing by the vast number of possibilities throughout the United States.

How do you narrow it down to decide exactly where you want to plant your roots? These questions were traditionally a luxury reserved to those in the golden years of their career nearing retirement.

But what if you can have the quality of life you want before you retire? Why wait till retirement to live life the way you choose?

This thought experiment is exactly what the Economic Development Office of Florida’s Space Coast and the Space Coast Office of Tourism are asking professionals across the United States as part of Mission Space Coast. This community branding initiative will culminate in a unified brand that tells the story of Brevard County, distinguishing the region as a community of choice and a premier place to live, work and play.

“As competition for business and talent attraction intensifies, it has never been more important that we tell the story of the Space Coast through a unified brand,” said Lynda L. Weatherman, President and CEO of the EDC. “We need to tell our story and not let other communities tell it for us.”

Creating a unified brand does not happen overnight, it requires feedback and buy-in from internal and external stakeholders. Mission Space Coast will create a brand that responsibly attracts talent and businesses to the region while valuing the natural assets and quality of life of the area.

“The brand will be more than a tagline; the brand will define the essence of the community. It’s what coalesces people. What do we want people to think about when they think about the Space Coast?” said Brett Esrock, Executive VP, CFO, and COO of Health First.

So, what factors did you consider when launching your life? Endless beaches with sun and surf? A walkable downtown or a sprawling community? Endless opportunity for career growth? A family-friendly community?

The country is your oyster. So, would you choose Florida’s Space Coast as your home?
