BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Stone Magnet Middle School students are scheduled to talk live with astronaut Warren Hoburg on the International Space Station on Friday, March 31.

Students will speak with astronaut Hoburg as part of an Amateur Radio on the International Space Station project.

Hoburg launched to the International Space Station as Pilot of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 mission aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft on March 2nd.

Goals for ARISS include inspiring an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math subjects and in STEM careers among young people.

■ They provide an educational opportunity for students, teachers, and the general public to learn about space exploration, space technologies, and satellite communications.

■ Provide an educational opportunity for students, teachers, and the general public to learn about wireless technology and radio science through Amateur Radio.

■ Provide the crew with another means to directly interact with a larger community outside the ISS, including friends and family.

Contact is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Friday, March 31, at Stone Magnet Middle School, 1101 E University Boulevard, Melbourne.
