FLORIDA’S SPACE COAST, USA – The Department of the Air Force selected Patrick Space Force Base in Brevard County, Florida, as the preferred location to host the Space Training and Readiness Command  (STARCOM) Headquarters, along with Space Delta 10.

Today’s announcement further solidifies Brevard County and Florida’s dominance as the most military-friendly state and position as America’s hub for military and private space operations.

Last year Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) co-led a Florida Delegation effort with Senators Rubio and Scott to urge the U.S. Air Force to select Brevard County as STARCOM’s permanent home.

“Florida’s booming Space Coast is the world’s premier spaceport and the perfect location for Space Force’s STARCOM headquarters and Delta 10 unit,” said Posey.  “We are honored to be selected as the preferred location for these two important military units.”

“The EDC’s notable working relationship with military leadership has built a strong foundation which allows for strong communication and community support,” said Lynda L. Weatherman, President & CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast.

“The EDC is proud to have led the effort to secure STARCOM on behalf of the community; working with our state and local partners, we demonstrated Florida’s Space Coast was the best option for training our nation’s Guardians for the 21st-Century battlefield.”

STARCOM will prepare combat-ready U.S. Space Force (USSF) Guardians to fight and win in a contested, degraded, and operationally limited environment through the deliberate development, education, and training of space professionals; development of space warfighting doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures; and the test and evaluation of USSF capabilities.

“From Project Mercury to today’s privatized spaceflight, Americans look to Florida’s Space Coast to see history in the making,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We are honored to host the Space Training and Readiness Command headquarters and continue Florida’s history as America’s gateway to outer space.”

“This decision by the U.S. Air Force reflects the strategic importance of Florida in advancing national security and defense in space,” said Frank DiBello, President and CEO, Space Florida.

“Bringing STARCOM’s headquarters to Patrick Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station is a significant milestone in Florida’s history and reaffirms our critical role in advancing the nation’s space and military capabilities. I want to thank USSF General Stephen Purdy for his commitment to helping build a space military operations hub in Florida.”
