Body Found in Merritt Island Near Water Way Park Off State Road 520

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after a body was found by a person walking their dog on Monday and discovered the body floating in the water at Water Way Park, just off State Road 520 on Merritt Island.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation in the area of Waterway Park, located at 600 West Merritt Island Causeway, Merritt Island.

Deputies responded to the area at approximately 8:20 a.m., after the Sheriff’s Office was advised that a male was observed floating in the water.

Upon arrival, deputies located the body of a deceased male who was retrieved from the water by the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team.

Agents from the Homicide and Crime Scene Units are currently in the process of interviewing potential witnesses and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the victim at this time.

The body was taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
