Brevard Public Schools Board Approves New Leadership Appointments for 2023-2024 School Year, Classes Starts Aug. 10

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard Public Schools Board approved new appointments for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year during a recent board meeting in Viera. Those being approved for their new roles in leading Brevard Public Schools during the next school year, which beings Aug. 10 include:

■ Amanda J. Kastensmidt to Director of Student Services;
■ Ruth E. Jursa to Interim Assistant Principal at McNair Magnet Middle School;
■ Gail D. Williams Director of Professional Standards/Labor Relations;
■ Katrina Hudson to Director of Elementary Leading and Learning;
■ Jennifer M. Clarke to Director of Elementary Leading and Learning; Erica D. Back to Principal at Atlantis Elementary;
■ Debora I. Lubbers to Principal at Merritt Island High;
■ Angela R. Owens to Assistant Principal at Merritt Island High;
■ John E. Rusch to Assistant Principal at Viera High;
■ Robert J. Farrell to Assistant Principal at Eau Gallie High School; Andrew S. Hoppenbrouwer to Assistant Principal at Merritt Island High;
■ Mackenzie D. McFall to Interim Assistant Principal at MILA Elementary School

Mark Rendell, former principal of Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School, was selected by the school board as the new superintendent for Brevard Public Schools at the beginning of May and teachers will report on Wednesday for their preplanning week before schools open for students on Aug. 10.
