POLICE: Death Investigation Underway After Man Found Floating Face Down in Indian River in Melbourne

DEATH INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY: A man was discovered in the Indian River on Thursday afternoon about 4 p.m. after Melbourne police officers responded to the area of Horse Creek near Rose Court and U.S. Hwy. 1 regarding a person floating face down in the river on Thursday afternoon about 4 p.m.

MELBOURNE POLICE: Victim is a white male believed to be between 40-50 years of age.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A man was discovered in the Indian River on Thursday afternoon about 4 p.m. after Melbourne police officers responded to the area of Horse Creek near Rose Court and U.S. Hwy. 1 regarding a person floating face down in the river on Thursday afternoon about 4 p.m.

Officers arrived on scene and immediately determined the man was deceased.

According to a Melbourne police spokesperson, additional officers with the dive recovery team and Marine Patrol Unit were called to the scene to bring the victim to shore. Melbourne detectives and M.E. Investigators also responded and will continue the investigation.

The Melbourne police spokesperson said the victim is a white male believed to be between 40-50 years of age.

“His identity is currently unknown and as of now, there are no recently reported missing males in the vicinity,” said the spokesperson.
