BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Marem Ndiongue of the Florida Tech women’s soccer team has been named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Panther’s 3-1 win over Florida Southern in their regular season finale.
This is Ndiongue’s second time receiving the award this season and the second of her career.
In Tuesday’s match against the Mocs, Ndiongue struck first for the Panthers in the 17th minute to give Tech the early 1-0 lead.
The Panthers surrendered a goal in the 22nd minute, but the Italian native converted a penalty in the 31st to retake the lead, 2-1. In the final minute, Ndiongue put the match away with a booming shot from midfield to give the match its final score of 3-1.
Ndiongue’s hat trick was her second of the season and the second of her career.
Florida Tech was crowned SSC co-champions of the regular season following the win after the Panthers finished with an 8-1-1 record in the conference. The victory earned the team the top seed and a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
Tech is back in action on Thursday, Nov. 9 in the semifinals of the SSC Tournament. They will host the winner of the match between fourth-seeded Rollins and fifth-seeded Eckerd. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Rick Stottler Field.
