OBITUARY: George William Kessel Jr., 86, of Rockledge Passed Away Surrounded By Loved Ones at Home

He was a dedicated Deacon and Sunday school teacher most of his retired life

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – George William Kessel, Jr. 86 years old, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away on January 27,2024, surrounded by his loved ones at home.
Born September 19, 1937, in Flint Michigan, George enjoyed ice hockey as a kid and fishing and jogging as an adult. He served in the US Air Force before starting a career in computer programming.
His career highlights were building computer systems to track ships through the Panama Canal in Central America and tracking shuttles and rockets downrange for the Kennedy Space Center.
He was a dedicated Deacon and Sunday school teacher most of his retired life and taught himself how to play the guitar and piano.
George is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, of 64 yrs., Virgina A. Kessel; children, George W. Kessel III (Evelyn), Kathryn A. Bradley (Jim) ; seven grandchildren, George IV, Nicholas, Kara, Korryn, Kaley, Kevin, Jr., Kolton, and four great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Kessel, and siblings, Patricia and James.
A visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Merritt Island, 140 Magnolia Aveue, Merritt Island, FL 32952, on February 9, at 9:30 a.m.; with a Celebration of life at 10:30 a.m.. A private burial will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens, at 1:30 p.m. following all services.
