Section 3 Tournament set for july 6

The Florida District 22 All-Star Tournament for 2024 continued Thursday night with the 9/10/11 Baseball Division at Port St. John’s Space Coast Communities Sports Complex.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida District 22 All-Star Tournament for 2024 continued Friday night with the 9/10/11 Baseball Division at Port St. John’s Space Coast Communities Sports Complex.

On Field #1:

The visiting team of Space Coast LL met the Port St. John LL home team. In the first inning, Space Coast had run from Adi Shmidov, Braydn Patterson, Colton Byrd, and Jackson Utz while Port St. John answered back with a run from Tucker Ball.

In the second, Space Coast’s Mark Pestor and Cook Holland scored, while Patterson added his second of 3 runs for the game.

After Port St. John’s Andrew Arnone and Talon Dasher crossed the plate, the score was 7-3, Space Coast leading.Space Coast would score its final runs in their half of the third inning with Derek Kondracki, Shmidov and Patterson to extend their lead 10-3.

Port scored a run from Conner Cunningham who hit a triple to get on base and would score on a wild pitch to end the fourth at 10-4, Space Coast. Space Coast’s Christian Duff would have a lead-off double in the sixth, but would be stranded on base as Space Coast LL won with a final score of 10-4.

On Field #2:

In the first inning, Merritt Island’s Trey Bliss would single, but be stranded on base, as well as Mims’ Andrew Morris who had a lead-off single in the top of the second and would reach third before being stranded.

Merritt Island would open the scoring in the bottom of the second with Parker Gleason and Nate Gardner crossing the plate for a 2-0 lead. Merritt Island’s Colby Lacy led off the bottom of the third with a double and stole third, but would be stranded, while in the top of the fourth, Mims’ Trainor Johnson would single and steal second before falling victim to the same fate.

In the bottom of the fourth, Gleason would single and score his second run while Tanner Shatto reached base on a walk and would later cross the plate for Merritt Island’s fourth run.

In the fifth, Mims’ lead-off hitter Holden Stevens would reach base and score, but it wouldn’t be enough as Merritt Island would hold on for the 4-1 victory and an undefeated record in the tournament to claim the 9/10/11 Baseball Championship.

Merritt Island will represent District 22 in the 9/10/11 Section 3 Tournament being held at Mims Little League’s Holder Park on Saturday, July 6.
