Melbourne Police Detectives, SWAT Members Seize Fentanyl and Weapons While Serving Search Warrant

Melbourne Police arrested 28-year-old suspect DaQwain Taysean Dankins

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit, along with Melbourne Police Department SWAT and Patrol Officers arrested a 28-year-old man after responding to the address of 516 Tucker Street to serve a search warrant on Wednesday.
Arrested was 28-year-old suspect DaQwain Taysean Dankins.
The search warrant was obtained following an ongoing narcotics investigation from community complaints. The search warrant was conducted in the early morning hours.
“Great job SIU and all the Officers involved,” said a Melbourne police spokesperson.
The search warrant resulted in a warrant arrest and seizure of the following contraband:
■ 1.1 grams of Fentanyl
■ KelTec .22 caliber rifle
■ Charter Arms .38 special revolver
■ Ruger Model 10/22 (.22 caliber rifle)
The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for the investigation of major crimes, vice and narcotic crimes, and follow-up investigation of other felonious crimes. To accomplish its mission to investigate and solve felony crimes, the Division is divided into three focused units.
These are Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Investigation, and Special Investigations Unit. The division includes 30 detectives and detective supervisors, five crime scene investigators, and other technical and support personnel.
