Brevard County School Bus Driver Arrested for Child Abuse After Incident With Student

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police arrested a Brevard County school bus driver on Monday after an incident involving a 12-year-old student.
According to the police investigation, Melbourne Police responded to a call at the South Alternative Learning Center regarding a disturbance on a Brevard County School Bus within the City of Melbourne.
The bus was en route to The South Alternative Learning Center with students on board.
As a result of the investigation, officers discovered that the bus driver stopped the bus and approached a 12-year-old student who was a passenger on the bus.
The bus driver pushed the student into a seat and placed his hands around his neck. Multiple students witnessed the event, and video from the bus was located, which captured the events.
Officers located and arrested the driver without incident for child abuse without great bodily harm. School District security was notified of this incident and is cooperating with the investigation.
The school bus driver arrested has been identified as 59-year-old William Green from Palm Bay.
