Florida Tech Panther Cross Country Runner Ben Peck Named SSC Freshman of the Year

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Ben Peck made Florida Tech men’s cross-country history, becoming the program’s fourth Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year.
Peck broke the Panthers’ 8K record at the UAH Chargers Invitational, finishing in 24:57.00.
The Brandon, England, native ran two other 8K races, clocking times of 27:11.00 at the Fire Invitational and 27:06.00 at the ERAU Classic.
His highest finish came in Lakeland’s first meet of the year, where he finished second behind teammate Niels Buitenhuis. In Daytona, Peck had another top-15 finish, placing 14th overall.
He joins Justin McMaster (2011), Ross Russell (2009), and Myles Garza (2007) as the other Panthers to earn the award.
