BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA—The Women’s Center of Brevard will hold a unique “Skydiving Fundraiser, Elevate HER,” on Saturday, December 7, from noon to 4 p.m. A ground party will be held, which will include live music, food, fun, and more to cheer on those who are jumping.
Mayor Alison Dennington of the Town of Melbourne Beach and other community members will jump from a plane 13,500 feet at Skydive Sebastian.
Mayor Dennington said in her online fundraising account, “I am jumping out of a plane because I believe in facing fears, overcoming challenges, and lifting others up in the process.”

I asked Heather Profit, Community Relations Manager for the Women’s Center of Brevard, about Saturday’s fundraiser. She told me, “This event is a celebration of resilience—the resilience of the women we serve and the resilience of our community. Together, we’re not just raising funds; we’re raising awareness, raising spirits, and creating lasting change for those who need it the most.”
Profit said, “For nearly 50 years, the Women’s Center of Brevard has been a lifeline for those who need it most. We’re not just providing services; we’re providing hope. Hope for those who thought they had none, those who are ready to rebuild, and those who are stepping out of the shadows into the light.”
