Who We Play For to Host World’s Largest CPR/AED Training During Surfing and Santas on Christmas Eve

Will be at Surfing Santas the morning of December 24 in Cocoa Beach

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Who We Play For, a national non-profit organization founded in Cocoa Beach, is teaming up with the globally recognized, community-driven tradition, Surfing Santas as on Christmas Eve morning each year, thousands flock to the sand and waves on Cocoa Beach dressed like Santa.

This year, they’ll also get the chance to help set a new world record and learn lifesaving skills.

Who We Play For’s mission is to eliminate preventable Sudden Cardiac Death in the young, a leading cause of death among surfers and a leading cause of death in the United States.

Supported by surfing world champions, Who We Play For empowers the surfing community by bringing life-saving education to the more than 10,000 attendees at Surfing Santas.

The training for our ‘Surfers and Santas’ will only take a few minutes per participant and will be available throughout the day for those interested. Our collective goal is to set a new world record for Surfers and Santas trained in CPR/AED use in a single day.

Who We Play For will also provide free Electrocardiogram (ECG) Heart Screenings for Surfing Santas ages 10 to 35.

A special appearance will be made by Gavin Idone, a WSL Qualifying Series Surfer and recent Cocoa Beach High School graduate whose life was saved by a WWPF Heart Screening at a surf contest.

“Help us create safer communities by spreading awareness about Sudden Cardiac Arrest and the life-saving benefits of CPR, AED use, and heart screenings. Together, we can make a difference this holiday season—one wave at a time,” said the event organizers.
