Free Patriotic Gathering ‘Every Day is Veterans Day’ Set Feb. 28 in Rockledge

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA One Senior Place will present Every Day is Veterans Day, a special event for veterans and their families in the Center for Collaboration at Space Coast Health Foundation on Friday, February 28.

The public is invited to the free patriotic gathering from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1100 Rockledge Boulevard (U.S. 1) in Rockledge. Space is limited, and there is no charge. RSVP by calling 321-751-6771 or  CLICK HERE.

Refreshments, door prizes and information from numerous veteran and military organizations and sponsors will be available to attendees.

A bugler will play “Reveille” to open the patriotic event, which will officially start with the Posting of the Colors, Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the national anthem by Lt. Colonel Cynthia Watkins-Pishdad (U.S. Army, Ret.).

The Space Coast Highlanders Bagpipe & Drum Band will make their way through the assembled crowd and play several numbers.

Co-sponsored by VITAS Healthcare and Rhodes Law P.A., Every Day is Veterans Day will feature a keynote address entitled “Salute to Veterans” by retired U.S. Army Colonel Stephen Bond.

A highlight of Every Day is Veterans Day will a special pinning ceremony for U.S. military veterans of all eras. The solemn ceremony is intended as a meaningful moment of recognition that also fosters a sense of camaraderie and pride among those who served in the armed forces.

Gold Star families (those who lost a family member in the line of duty) will also be pinned and thanked for their sacrifice to the nation.

Music during the pinning ceremony and break will be provided by the Space Coast Saxophone Quartet under the direction of Andrew Cleaver. Event attendees are invited to wear red, white, and blue to show patriotic solidarity.

Don Kramer, Founder and CEO of One Senior Place, considers it a privilege to recognize our U.S. military veterans at the 8th Annual Every Day is Veterans Day.

“We are honored to once again present this very special day of recognition for veterans and their families,” said Kramer.

“We call it Every Day is Veterans Day because one day of the year is not enough to express how grateful we are to the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform.”

Retired U.S. Army Colonel Steve Bond is the President of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Florida Council.

He a 29-year veteran of the U.S. Army and participated in combat operations in Panama (1989-90) and Saudi Arabia/Kuwait (1990-91), as well as humanitarian/peacekeeping operations in St. Croix (1989), and Haiti (1994).

After retiring from the Army, he worked for one of the largest defense aerospace companies in the U.S. as a director of business development based out of the Melbourne area.

From February 2008 to March 2009, Bond served in a U.S. Government Senior Executive Service Flag/General officer position as the Director of the Intelligence Transition Team and Senior U.S. Intelligence Advisor to the Iraqi Ministries of Defense, Interior, and the Counter-Terrorist Force while assigned to the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq, Multi-National Force-Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in what was known as “The Surge.”

Bond holds a master’s degree in history from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah.  His military education includes the Army Command, General Staff College, and Army War College.
