Eastern Florida State Women’s Tennis Blank Highline College at Titan Tennis Center

EFSC men's tennis team cruised past Franklin Pierce University

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis team blanked Highline College Friday morning at Titan Tennis Center.

The Titans improved to 4-2 on the season with the 9-0 victory.

The No. 1 doubles team of Elena Martinez Prado and Sara Valentina Ladino won 8-0 while Maria Gento and Thais Mitlmeier won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles team of Dasha Moskalenko and Nayara Alvarez Martin won 8-0 as well.

Up 3-0, the Titans continued to play well, winning all six singles matches in straight sets.

Martinez won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles with Gento winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Alvarez Martin came back from trailing early in the first set to win 6-4 and then 6-2 at No. 3 singles while Ladino won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, Moskalenko won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Mitlmeier won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

The Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis team continue its strong play, defeating Franklin Pierce University Saturday. The Titans, who have won four straight, picked up the 6-1 victory at Titan Tennis Center.

Eastern Florida State College picked up a point in doubles as the No. 1 doubles team of Maria Gento and Elena Martinez Prado won 6-4 as did the duo of Leticia Orlandov and Sara Valentina Ladino at No. 3 doubles.

Up 1-0, the Titans clinched the match as Martinez, Orlandov, and Dasha Moskalenko picked up straight sets win and Gento clinched the win, splitting the first two sets and then winning the third 6-0. Ladino also won her singles match in three sets.

The women’s tennis team will be home again on Friday for a region match against St. Petersburg College at 3 p.m.

Men’s Tennis

The Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis team cruised past Franklin Pierce University Saturday at Titan Tennis Center.

The Titans improved to 4-0 on the season with a 7-0 victory.

The three doubles matches were all close matches with the Titans coming up with the point as Konstantin Kukaras and Filip Sormaz picked up a tight win at No. 1 doubles, Pablo Garcia Rodriguez teamed up with Tomas Kurz Cardozo and won at No. 2 doubles while Zakaria Achour and Johan Mottlau won at No. 3 doubles to give the Titans a sweep.

The Titans then turned to singles matches and everyone won in straight sets as Alexandr Achour, Garcia, Kurz, Sormaz, Mottlau and Zakaria Achour all picked up wins.

Eastern Florida State College will have one more home match this season, April 21 against Fordham University at 11 a.m.
