BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College Foundation recently announced receipt of a $5,000 donation for the creation of the David W. Matte Business Scholarship.

The check was presented to Victoria Jones, Interim Executive Director of the Foundation, by David Matte and his daughter, Aja, who currently attends EFSC.

Matte is a proud U.S. Navy veteran and retired Principal Financial Analyst who dedicated over 30 years to L3Harris Technologies before retiring in 2020. His military service included critical intelligence roles in South Korea and the Philippines.

Beyond his professional career, Matte has made a lasting impact through public service and community involvement by serving on multiple civic boards in Brevard County and the City of Palm Bay.

He was named the City of Palm Bay’s Volunteer of the Year in 2002. He has also contributed to the arts and children’s welfare through leadership roles with the Melbourne Art Festival and The Haven for Children.

An Eastern Florida State College graduate in 1987 and later BCC, he credits EFSC with much of his business success.

“I remain thankful that EFSC provided me with an educational foundation that EFSC opened up for me,” said Matte. “That foundation was instrumental in an extremely rewarding 30-year career in Corporate Finance at L3 Harris Technologies.”

“We are extremely grateful to Mr. Matte and his family for this donation,” said Jones. “It will be used to create a scholarship that will make a difference in the lives of many students in the coming years.”
